Ahmedabad Style Hubs get a Peek-a-boo!
An avid shopper would love to get lost in Ahmedabad and never be found again! Ahmedabad, known as ‘The Manchester of India’, is the most popular shopping destination in Gujarat. This metropolitan city happens to be one of the few which has retained its cultural charm. This textile hub is THE place for traditional hand-embroidered and tie-dyed clothes along with jewelry and accessories. The whole fun is in the heated bargaining with the hawkers and satisfaction of buying something magnificent at low prices.
Law Garden Night Market
A typical street market, located on Netaji Road, comes alive at night with numerous stalls that extend to all corners. Law Garden is packed with decorative chaniyas, cholis, dupattas, shawls, stoles, kurtas and jewelry that are mostly sold by the artisans themselves. If that is not enough, there are stalls for wall hangings and other home decor items. Remember to drop in after 6:30 PM when the market is at its peak.
Manek Chowk
Manek Chowk is probably the most crowded market you will come across. The mornings have the vegetable markets in place, by afternoon the jewelry shops are open and by evening the food stalls are up to serve the shoppers with delicious snacks. This bustling market, located off Ramanlal Jani and Desai Roads, is the city’s largest for textiles, jewelry, food and vegetables.
Lal Darwaja
Lal Darwaja is another shopping spot which is busy as a beehive. Here you will find everything from sarees, chaniya cholis, men’s clothes, children’s clothes, jewelry, bags, footwear to old books and much more. This hub is everyone’s favorite place to visit when in Ahmedabad and no one ever leaves without being here at least once.
