Though the day begun with a few collections focusing on the western silhouettes, but soon meeting our expectation, the list of evening shows left us awestruck. Flamboyant designs in vivid palette exhibited a beautiful presentation of mirror work, shibori dyeing, zardosi embellished majestic lehenga designs and more.

Shehla Khan unveiled a zesty collection of floor-sweeping gowns, long sleeved blouse, lehenga choli with 3D floral motifs where hues of white, yellow, peach, pink and navy dominated the palette. Bringing forth the glitz and glamor of Hollywood, Shehla Khan didn’t miss out on the Bollywood spice factor. After all, she had the bombastic Nargis Fakhri walking the ramp as the showstopper. Next in the line-up was Anushree Reddy and Arpita Mehta.

Eternally classic – that’s how we would like to describe Arpita Mehta’s collection titled as ‘Paradiso’. Known for  her intelligent and creative use of mirror work, her assortment displayed at the fashion week this time was a contemporary Indian wear with chic styling. Painting a story on vivacious shades of yellow and indigo blue, the silhouettes included layered sarees, ethnic tunics, lehenga choli, dhoti pants, and tops, embellished with delicate mirror work. Lovely Karishma Kapoor walked as the showstopper in a pistachio green lehenga with mirror studded and golden embroidered choli.

While Anushree Reddy designs can be aptly defined as enigmatic Indo-chic couture. Extravagant zardozi work, gold and silver appliqué work, delicate drapes were the high points of her collection. Dipped in shades of rustic brown, vintage pink, canary yellow, ash grey and teal blue, the designer had weaved her collection in rich fabrics like malkha, Chanderi, kota, tulle, mulmul and satin. Embellished with sequins, pearl tassels and zardosi work, Anushree;s collection titled ‘The Tale of a Bow ‘presented a line of Anarkalis, gowns, pants, dresses and lehengas. Pretty Ileana D’Cruz made a stunning impression as she walked down the runway in a cream lehenga teamed up with sequins and embroidered peach colored blouse.

Ritika Mirchandani’s rustic collection was artistically contoured with Indian aesthetics. The line up of saris, tunics, salwars, jackets, skirts, dresses and tops narrated a color story, comprising shades of deep jewel blue, golden yellow, orange, black, lemon and pure white. Bubbly actress Amrita Puri strolled down the ramp in elan sporting a white lehenga with heavily embroidered blouse.

Designer duo Shantanu Nikhil’s collection ‘The Shadows Within’ presented a classic display of tran-seasonal outfits that reflected an Indo-western appeal. A perfect interplay of textures, layers, drapes and colors; the assortment borrowed inspiration from the mystical muse called Venessa. Beautifully constructed attires painted in shades of peach, brown, cream, beige are reminiscent to the clothing of pre-independence. Saree gowns, pre-stitched sarees with high collared long sleeved blouses added an ethnic glamor.

Veteran designer Anju Modi who made her debut at Lakme Fashion Week presented a beautiful collection painted in hues of grey, beige, dusty rose and powder blue. Titled as ‘Seeking Paradise’ silhouettes were highlighted with intricate embellishments that created a fantasy-like appeal. The show stopper was the elegant Malaika Arora Khan strolled down the runway in a bluish-grey empirical line net gown, embellished with floral embroidery. This brought us to the conclusion of Day 4 of LFW S/R 2014.

One more day to go! Can’t wait to see, what the finale show of Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2014 has to offer. Stay with us as we bring to the latest updates from the runway of the gala event.
